Indonesian
Indonesian is the national language of the world's fourth most populous country, a common tongue for more than 270 million people spread across seventeen thousand islands and hundreds of local languages. It is the language you will use from Jakarta's street food stalls to the rice terraces and surf breaks of Bali, where LangFeed's course is set, with a small, marked layer of Balinese greetings for when you want to make a local smile.
For English speakers it is famously easy to start. It uses the Latin alphabet, spelling is consistent, and there are no tones, no genders, no articles and no verb conjugations: one small word like sudah or akan says when something happens. Plurals are often made by simply saying a word twice. The real skill is politeness, knowing when to use Anda or Bapak and Ibu, and that is exactly the part locals notice and appreciate.
